A CHAMPION

A champion is a person

who knows how to win

whether or not she does.

A champion is a person

                                                                        who knows that it takes

more than just wanting

or hoping

or wishing

or getting the breaks

                                                                           to be all she can be.

A champion has heart

and does not quit.

And in victory and

defeat

a champion knows

she has given her best

and more,

and her body hurts

just the same

win or lose.

And…

when all is said and done

    no matter the outcome,

       a true champion stands alone,

                 always a champion

                       in her heart

                             where it counts

                                      deep inside.
